“GO-SLOW” POLICY
BURNSIDE SLAUGHTERMEN NORMAL WORK RESUMED Press Association DUNEDIN - . Wednesday. Since about mid-day on Monday killing at the New Zealand Refrigerating Company’s Burnside works has been done under the go-slow principle, owing to a dispute between slaughtermen and the company. Sheep and lambs are being killed at the works at the rate of not more than two animals an hour. It is said that the men's course has been followed to show their sympathy with the Australian slaughterman, who has not been able to secure work at Burnside, where some seasons ago he was employed. On the average, slaughtermen it ordinary times each kill from 80 to 90 sheep or lambs per day and can kill over 100 a day. Fat sheep, lambs, and store cattle are affected by the dispute. 'the men have now decided, however, to resume the normal rate of killing, and to leave their grievance in the hands of the disputes committee.
