THEN HE UNDERSTOOD
He was laying concrete slabs to form a pathway, but his actions rather mystified his employer. The workman continually stooped and placed his nose against the concrete, so much so that the employer felt constrained to question the man as to what he was doing. “This is a wonderful job,” he replied in answer to a question. “ It's not often one has the chance of working among such pleasant things.” The truth of the matter then dawned on the employer, those slabs had been taken from the floor of a once flourishing brewery, and they still retained the odour of the beer and hops.
