The trial of Emil Marek, an engineer and inventor, on charges of fraud and slander in connection with his insurance against disablement with the Anglo-Danubian-Lloyd, Com pany for £BO,OOO, to secure which money it is alleged Marek cut off his leg, was continued to-day at Vienna. The Y r ienna correspondent of the “Daily Mail” says the amputated leg was discovered preserved in chemicals. At the trial to-day Marek reproduced the alleged attack upon himself. He squatted on the floor of the court, and with an axe demonstrated how the blows fell. He persisted in saying that he only felt frightful agony, and screamed and then fainted. The evidence disclosed that the incident occurred on the morning after Marek had paid the first instalment of £2OO of the annual premium on his insurance against accident. His wife presented a claim on the following morning. Marek professed a passionate love for his wife.
