NEARLY ENDED
THE CRICKET SEASON TWO MORE SATURDAYS By a decision made, at the meeting of the Management Committee of the Auckland Cricket Association last evening, the senior A grade matches under the auspices of the association will conclude next Saturday and all other competition games will finish the following Saturday. Considerable discussion took place on the question of concluding the different competitions in the most satisfactory manner in the limited time available. The matter was finally left in the hands of Mr. R. Dow and the secretary, Mr. N. H. E. Hockin, to deal with. In the second grade competition Akarana has won one section and Y.M.C.A. and Grafton are level in the other. It was decided that the two last mentioned teams should play off, the winner to be bracketed with Akarana as joint grade champions, in view of the impossibility of finalising the competition in tl. time available. In the senior B competition the two leading teams, North Shore colts and Eden, will play off for the championship honours on the next two Saturdays. The question of sending an Auckland eleven to play a South Auckland team at Hamilton at Easter was referred to Mr. E. C. Beale to endeavour to arrange a team, players to pay their own expenses. The Tisdall bat for the highest number of runs scored in February was awarded to C. C. Dacre, North Shore, whose total was 109. The award of the AVatts bat for the best bowling performance in February was deferred until the next meeting. The University Club was granted the use of the wicket at Eden Park for a match against Victoria College (Wellington) at Easter, subject to the ground not being required for football.
