LAND COMMISSIONER

NORTH AUCKLAND DISTRICT MR. O. N. CAMPBELL APPOINTED Advice has been received of the appointment of Mr. Owen W. Campbell, chief land drainage engineer of the and Survey Department, to fill the position of commissioner of Crown lands and chief surveyor of the North Auckland land district, in place of Mr. H. J. Lowe, who has retired on superannuation. The North Auckland district extends from Mercer to Spirits Bay and by virtue of his office Mr. Campbell will be chairman of the North Auckland Land Board and will also occupy other associated positions. Mr. Campbell has given splendid service to the country in connection with land drainage, a number of schemes in the Auckland district, including a great deal of the work on the Hauraki Plains, having been carried out under his direction.
