TOURNAMENT CONCLUDES MAORI GIRLS’ VICTORY The Auckland Tennis Associations night tournament was concluded last evening. The men’s doubles produced first-class tennis. Johns and Hare beating Simms and Rowlands in the last two games of the set after losing the first. The ’adies doubles were won by Misses P. Rukutai and D. Newton, the first occasion on which two Maori girls have been successful in an open tournament in Auckland. They are pupils of the Technical College, Miss Newton being holder of the New Zealand girls’ championship. Results are as follows: MEN’S DOUBLES. —Johns and Hare beat Simms and Rowlands, 3 —6, 6—3, 6—i. LADIES' DOUBLES.—Misses Rukutai and Newton beat Misses Parr and Campbell, 6—l, 6—2. COMBINED DOUBLES. Semi-final: Johns and Miss P. Miller beat Potter and Miss Fletcher, 6—3, 6—4. Final: A. C. Johns and Miss P. Miller beat Newton and Miss Rukutai, 6—3. 6—2.
