POWER BOARD MEETS
THE ARAPUNI DELAY ADVICE FROM MINISTER At a meeting of the Auckland Electric Power Board, held yesterday afternoon, advice was received regarding the delay experienced in the completion of the power-house at Arapuni. The chairman, Mr. W. J. Holdswortli, stated that a communication had been received from the Minister of Public Works explaining that some difficulty existed in connection with the powerhouse site, and offered to place an engineer at the disposal of the board in the event of a visit to the works. The chairman also reported that while in Wellington he interviewed Mr. Kissell regarding the progress being made at Arapuni, and was informed that it was now certain that there would be a delay in the completion of the work. It was resolved that the question of a visit to Arapuni be deferred until the next board-in-committee meeting. In response to an application from the Auckland branch of the Plunket Society, asking for a contribution towards their funds, it was agreed that the sum of £5 5s be donated. It was resolved that the board’s architect® be instructed to prepare sketch plans of the proposed building in Queen Street.
