GRAND
“THE COUNTRY BEYOND” The natural beauty of the Canadian wilds and the gay lights of Broadway are equally well pictured in "The Country Beyond," Fox Films version of James Oliver Curwood’s widely read novel, which is showing at the Grand Theatre. "The Country Beyond" features Olive Borden, who achieved stellar rank with her Eve in "Fig Leaves” and as the heroine in "Three Bad Men.” She plays the part of Valencia, a shy Canadian girl who, driven from her home by fear that she will be sold by her foster-father to a brutal trapper, goes to New York where she achieves fame as a dancer. This is an absorbing story that held the interest of Saturday’s audience throughout the performance. In addition to the screen favourites already mentioned, the cast includes J. Farrell MacDonald, who will be remembered as Corporal Casey of “The Iron Horse” and as Mike Costigan in "Three Bad Men.”
