MATCH MONOPOLY
SALE TO COMPANY FRENCH TRANSACTION By Cable.—Press A.s.\ iation. — Copyright PARIS, Saturday. The Premier and Finance Minister, M. Poincare, has issued a statemeut to the Cabinet regarding the proposed grant of a monopoly to sell matches to a company. Under his plan the directors must be exclusively French. Foreign holders of shares will not be entitled to have any control in the management of the company. A deposit with the State of a sum of £20,000,000 is to be required, and also a guarantee of an annual payment to the State by the company of a sum corresponding to the revenue which has accrued from the State monopoly in the past, together with a large share of the profits. The State would fix the selling price of matches.—A. and N.Z.
