AUCKLAND WELCOMES ADVENT OF THE SUN
SALES AVERAGE 30,000 CONGRATULATORY MESSAGES The general opinion seems to be that THE SUN has began well and i« going to be Auckland’s most popular paper. Shoals of congratulatory telegrams and messages have been received from different parts of New Zealand, indicating the impression created by the first number. While we are pleased to receive so many tangible evidences of the goodwill of the community, we hasten to say that when we can satisfy ourselves regarding the quality of the contents of the paper and can perfect our organisation for its delivery, we shall then—and not till then —feel that we deserve some of the kind things said •bout us. We sincerely regret that the bad
weather on the opening night, and the extraordinary demand for copies of THE SUN, rather disturbed our publishing organisation, and many persons who had every right to expect to receive their paper in good time failed to get it at all. It is no light task to pack up and distribute some seven tons of newspapers over the city and suburbs in a matter of a few hours, but now that our staff is getting into its stride, we trust there will be no further cause for complaint. We desire our subscribers to advise us promptly of any delay or non-delivery in future.
