FLOATING DOCK

WELLINGTON PROPOSAL ENGINEER TO INVESTIGATE (From Our Oxen Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, To-day. The General Manager and Chief Engineer of the Wellington Harbour Board, Mr. J. Marchbanks, leaves tomorrow for America, England and the Continent to observe harbour facilities and to gather information upon the question of a floating dock. A fund for this purpose established years ago now totals £55,500„ and it is hoped that the Thorndon reclaimed area will be used in this connection, although the original intention was to place the dock at Kaiwarra. The board authorities have in mind a dock to accommodate the largest ships calling here.
