After courtesies had been exchanged the visitors played a test against the South Auckland Centre representatives on the Hamilton Club’s green, which was a little heavy following the recent rains, but otherwise in splendid condition. Coombes’s rink acquitted themselves very well, while Pilkington’s rink played a particularly fine game, the skip receiving good support, especially from McFarlane. Higgott’s rink made a good uphill fight after being down and finished 2 up at the final head. Although defeated, Montgomery’s rink put up a good exhibition.
