STRIKE THREATENED
FRENCH MINERS RESTLESS WAGE REDUCTION TROUBLE By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright PARTS, Thursday. A general strike of French coalminers is threatened for April 1. The owners are insisting upon an 8 per cent—reduction in wages. To this the men refuse to agree. They are paraphrasing the slogan of Mr. A. J. Cook, general secretary of the British Miners’ Federation, by saying: "Not one centime off the pay, unless cheaper living is on the way.” Messages from Germany say there is trouble also on the Ruhr coalfield The owners and the miners have refused to accept a report framed by Government assessors.—A. and N.Z.
