PAPAKURA WEDDING

SHEPPARD—RYAN Christ Church, Papakura, was the venue of a pretty wedding recently, when Miss Hilda Myrtle Ryan became the bride of Mr. Mervyn Sheppard, second son of Mrs. Newson Sheppard, of Devonport. The Rev. W. C. Wood, Vicar of Papakura, officiated and appropriate nuptial music was played by Mr. T. C. Seaton. The bride, who was escorted by her brother-in-law, Mr. C. Wardell, wore a charming frock of ivory French georgette, prettily beaded and hand-em-broidered and daintily complemented with a veil of brussels lace, so arranged that it formed a graceful train. The bridal bouquet was composed of cactus dahlias* and asters in delicate colourings.

Miss Jessie Webster, who attended as chief bridesmaid, wore cyclamen georgette, to which added beauty was lent by the attractive trimming of vari-coloured appliqued flowers. A becoming hat of crinoline straw and a bouquet of harmonising flowers were dainty accessories to her toilette. Ea.u de nil georgette frocks, effectively pleated, were worn by Misses Rona Canham and Jessie Parker, who made a pretty little flower-girl and train-bearer respectively. Each carried a quaint posy of cyclamen flowers and wore a petalled hat of tulle.

Mr. R. Sheppard, brother of the bridegroom, carried out the duties of best man.

A reception was held after the ceremony at: “Lilamani,” Opaheke, at the residence of the bride’s sister, Mrs. Charles Wardell. The hostess received her guests wearing a handsome gown of delphinium blue georgette, trimmed with guipure lace. Among those present were:

Mrs. Deed, Mr. and Mrs. Canham, Mr and Mrs. Fielding, Mr. and Mrs. Sloane, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Parker, Mr. and Mrs. J. Walker, Mrs. Platt, Mrs. McKinnon, Captain and Mrs. J. Brooks, Mrs. Appleby, Mr. and Mrs. Rushton, Mr. and Mrs. Webster, • Mrs. Ash, Mrs. Sidford, Mr. and Mi's. H. Breadon, Misses Sidford, Walker, Platt, Russell, Baulf, Christie, Stenburg, Wood, and Messrs S. Sheppard, Young, Ryan, H. Walker, and I. Platt.
