For five cons3s, i \ | secutive years it has been the leading theatrical attraction in New York, where it is still playing. Aptly described as a Niagara of laughs “Abie’s Irish Rose” is a comedy that appeals by its sheer humanity and its clean, invigorating perspective of life. The play will introduce a complete caste of international artists all of wliom have played their respective roles more than a thousand times. The company was specially selected and engaged by the authoress-producer, Miss Anne Nicholls, herself. In writing to her firm she said, “I am sending you the best caste that has ever appeared in my comedy. They include Grace Stafford, George Duryea, John McCabe, Alfred Gordon, Bertha Walden, Henry Mortimer, Jack Trainer and David Wall.” A critic of the “Courier,” Brisbane, says: ' The more one sees of ‘Abie’s Irish Rose’ the moue one likes it. Lovers of a beautiful story with simple folk as the characters do not often get the chance of seeing such a delightfuL play. Hence the capacity houses a* every performance. The character acting is excellent, the dialogue is graced with the sparkle of spontaneous humour or with a delicate shade of pathos. In this comedy the audience gets three acts, three marriages and three thousand laughs in less than chree hours.” REGENT BALLROOM COMING MOVIE REVEL The Regent Ballroom, Auckland’s new and most luxurious dance rendezvous, continues to attract hundreds of revellers each evening, while the tea dansants held on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday afternoons are proving most popular. An excellent band, superb floor, novel lighting effects, and exhibition dances by Mr. Theo Trezise and Miss Dorothy Steele, are features of this addition to the Regent Theatre. Patrons are reminded that the Grand Movie Revel, the first function of its kind to be held in Auckland, will take place on Friday, April 1. Fancy and evening dress will be worn, and a special prize, donated by Mr. Beaumont Smith, will be given for the best representation of a movie star, and noncompetitive sets will be entered by the various film exchang~ PARNELL PICTURES “THE VANISHING RACE” !
