Edward Miller Rouse was charged at Hamilton to-day with alleged negligent and dangerous driving, thereby causing the death of Alice Myra Morris, aged 18 years, at Hamilton on March 15. He was further remanded till Monday, bail being renewed in one surety of £SO.
HOUSEWIVES’ GrUIDI Cabbages are cheap. They sold at the city markets yesterday at from 1s to 4s a sack. Cauli flowers made from 3s to 5s a sack. Pumpkins 3s to 3s 6d a cwt. Lettuce realised 6d to 3s 6d a cast. Green peas 5s to 8s a sugar bag and beans 1s to 2s a bag. Te Kauwhata grapes are selling at from 8s to 9s a crate. Pears are plentiful at 2s 6d to 9s a case. Hen eggs are 2s 5d to 2s 6d a dozen, duck eggs 2s 3d to 2s a dozen. Farmers’ butter is limited and selling at 1s 1d to 1s 3d a lb. Mushrooms are costing about 1s a lb.
