ALTERING AUCKLAND’S SKY-LINE

THE HOME OF THE SUN JO-DAY is presented for public judgment and, it is confidently hoped, appreciation, the first issue of Greater Auckland’s new daily newspaper. The Sun. To-morrow there will be published a special section giving full details of this vast new enterprise, which caps Auckland’s longexpressed desire for a third and independent newspaper. To-day, the history of the venture, its field, and its service need be but briefly outlined. The magnificent building illustrated on this page is the Auckland home of The Sun. Situated at the corner of Wyndham and Albert Streets, on one of the city’s highest rises, and almost within stone-throw of Queen Street., it presents a striking, yet dignified, appearance. It is a veritable newspaper palace, planned to please the eye, to endure, and to provide the best obtainable accommodation for the many and varied departments of its internal activities.

From this splendid building will issue the evening paper which, it is confidently hoped, will fill a longfelt eed of the people of Auckland City and Province. THE SUN will endeavour to present to the public all the publishable news of the world in the most readable manner. Its special features will be numerous and are certain to be received with appreciation. Neither care nor expense has been spared in assembling a staff worthy of the best journalistic traditions, and THE SUN will present to its readers only that which is in conformity with the ethics of an honest, a clean and a virile journalism. Each department of THE SUN has

been staffed with the best skill and experience available. The completion of the great white building, from which the banner of THE SUN waves proudly to the breeze, is for Auckland a distinct epoch. To-morrow’s souvenir section, therefore, will be of a very special Interest, for if will profusely describe and illustrate the ramifications of this gigantic new venture, and will doubtless be in eager demand by the people. It may be explained that the initial issues have been produced at record speed with an entirely new plant, and, if in earlier numbers there should be superficial flaws and deficiencies these will be speedily remedied.
