Judge Jones, of the Native Land Court, is at Hotel Stonehurst. Mr. arid Mrs. E. Thompson and the Misees R. E. and E. M. Thom pson, of Sydney, are staying at Hotel Stoneburet. Mr. A. L. Haddon, M.A., has arrived in Dunedin from Melbourne to become principal of the Churches of Christ Theological College for New Zealand, which will be opened this year. M. West, of Christchurch. Mr. Allan Russell, general manager for Australia and New Zealand for the A.P.A. Union, arrived from Sydney by the Ulimaroa to-day and is staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr. G. J. Bertinshaw, inspecting engineer of the Railway Department Wellington, arrived in Auckland by the Daylight Limited last evening on Departmental business. Although no official announcement has yet been made it is thought likely that the Director-General of Agriculture, Dr. C. J. Reakes, will be selected to represent New Zealand at the agricultural conference organised by the British Ministry of Agriculture. The conference is to be held in October. The Tauranga Chamber of Commerce has elected Mr. R. Rutter president for the ensuing year.
