At the Inquest held to-day concerning the death of Thomas Edmund Gray, who died in hospital as the result of a motor-car in which he wa.3 riding on February 27 striking a tramway pole, the driver of the car, Gladstone Mclnnes, said the accident was caused by a boy riding a bicycle across the footpath in front of the ca.r. In order to avoid l-unnmg the boy down, he kept further to the left than he otherwise -would have done and struck the pole at the edge of the footpath. The car was damaged but witness and his wife were not huit. Witness assumed that Gray must haw jumped or been thrown from the cai, and fallen heavily. . a verdict was returned that death was due to deceased being thrown from the motor-car, which collided ir .A“ _ _o«r in order to avoid a bo>, no blame being attachable to the driver.
