MAUNGAKIEKIE CLUB The annual meeting: of the Maungakiekie Golf Club will be held on Friday. The report shows that the total membership has increased from 662 :in 1926 to 708 in 1927. The present division of membership is as follows: Women, Maungakiekie links 118, Titirangi 39, both links 99; men, Maungakiekie 47, Titirangi 91, both links 139. The total is made up with junior and other members. The report states: “The revenue account shows a small profit of £24 5s 3d. A mtreh larger amount has been written off by way of depreciation than usual, particularly on the clubhouse at One Tree Hill, and the plant. This was rendered necessary by recent events in connection with our tenure at the hill. During the year the club received from the art union the sum of £4,000. It is anticipated that a further £BOO will be available when the accounts are finally closed. From this fund the committee paid off £2.500 of debentures and loans. To-w-ards the end of December Dr. MacKenzie, the eminent golf architect, at the request of the committee, paid a visi t to Auckland, and was engaged to prepare a comprehensive scheme for the re-layout and bunkering of the Titirangi course. A part of the re- • commendation is the piping of the drains and the elimination of the rough, so as to avoid any unnecessary loss of time in looking for balls. This work has already been commenced. A tractor and a quintuple mower have been ordered for each course. These should enable the greenkeepers to deal effectively with the grass.” The working account showed an income of £4,593 10s 2d (including £3.280 10s 9d from subscriptions, £339 4s Id from green fees, £526 Is from entrance fees, and £134 10s 4d from refreshments). The principal items on the expenditure side were green upkeep £443 9s Bd, wages £1,378 4s 3d, house expenses £325 15s 3d, interest £695, rent £4lB 9s 2d, depreciation £5lB 16s 2d.
