ON THE ’CHANGE AUCKLAND SHAREMARKET J AVERAGE BUSINESS TO-3AY Average business was done on the Auckland Stock Exchange at the first and second calls to-day. The following sales took place: Bank of Australlas, £l4 13s 6d: Commercial of Australia, £1 10s lOd; Moanataiari (con.), ss; Alburnia, 3s 6d; Auckland Gas, 23s 2d: Northern Steamship, 13s; Auckland City, 5i per cent, debentures, £96 10s. Mid-day quotations were as follow:

FRUIT AND PRODUCE TREND OF THE MARKETS T.here has been a poor demand for all classes of fruit on the Auckland market this week, anything hut the choicest lines being neglected. At yesterday’s auction sales a very large supply of pears was sold at very low rates. Te Kauwhata grapes were offered in fairly large quantities but business was dull, while the trade in local lemons was poor. Quantities of tomatoes are arriving from the Hutt and are selling well. The following prices were realised at yesterday’s sales: — Fruit Apples, delicious, 3s to 6s a case; Cox’s orange, 5s to Bs. Pears, small, 2s 6d to 3s a case; Louise Bon, 6s to 9s. Grapes, hothouse, lOd to Is 8d a lb.;.Te Kauwhata, 8s to 9s a crate. Cape Gooseberries, 6d to 6ad a lb. Tomatoes, local, 2s 6d to 6s a case; Hutt, 3s to 5s Peaches, Golden Queen, 7s to 10s. Repacked bananas, 20s to 22s a case. Fiji oranges, 6s to 7s a case. Lemons, local, 6s to 10s. Vegetables Potatoes, 4s to 4s 9d sugar bag. Kumaras, 4s to 5s a sugar bag. Cauliflower, 3s to 5s a sack. Green peas, best, 5s to Ss a sugar bag. Swedes, Is 6d to 2s a bag. Beans, Is to 2s a bag. Watermelons, 6d to Is 6d each. Rhubarb, Is 6d to 2s a doz. bundles. Carrots, parsnips, beet and turnip, 6d to 9d a doz. bundles. Dairy Produce Hen eggs, 2s 5d to 2s 6d a dozen. Dijck eggs, 2s 3d to 2s 4d doz. Farmers’ butter, Is Id to Is 3d a lb.
