THE SUN ENTERTAINS
NEWSPAPER AT WORK CITIZENS AS GUESTS An experience that comes the way of the average person but once in a life-time—that of seeing a modern newspaper office with the mechanical departments in full working order—was afforded between three or four hundred of the leading citizens of Auckland last night. The directors and staff of THE SUN NEWSPAPERS LTD. were the hosts. The guests were conducted by members of the staff through the various departments of the office, and the many and varied processes that play their part in the production of a modern newspaper were explained. The tour of inspection was a revelation of mechanical wonders. The intricate linotype machines, the stereo, department., and finally the gigantic Hoe printing press, were demonstrated in full working order. Later the guests were entertained at supper on the literary staff’s floor and music was provided by the Click Clack String Orchestra. Souvenir copies of THE SUN, which were printed during the evening, were presented to each guest.
