On last the German barque Irma, which had hoon expected for some dine, arrived in our liarhour. She is last from Sydney, which port she'left on the 10th November, thus making a passage of thirty days. Captain Thoro reports experiencing moderate weather until reaching the southward of this Croup, when he met with heavy gales. Pilot. Hamilton being confined to his house by the prevailing sickness, Mr. J. M. Coe undertook his duties, and the Irma up to her moorings in good stylo. The German gun-boat Nautilus, the flagship on this station, returned to this port on Saturday last after a lengthened absence. Since leaving these waters in August last, the Nautilus has visited >ydm*y and Melbourne, and is last from Wellington, New Zealand, The barque Albatross from Cape Town entered tins harbour yesterday evening just before dusk. She was seen to windward of :he port in the forenoon, but in a squall passed the entrance to the harbour and for some time it was feared sbe would go on Faleula reef close to where the Active stranded. Her dangerous position being observed from tin* German warships in harbour assistance was promptly sent and the vessel towed safely into harbour. Tho schooner Yaitupn-le-Mole arrived yesterday from Funafuti. We understand that Captain Scott, late of tho brigantine Active, has chartered the brigantine Mataulu from Messrs. 11. M, Huge & Co., for a voyage to Auckland, calling at several places eu route, in completion or rno trip wmrn woum nave neon undertaken by the Active but for her unfortunate mishap on Falcula reef. Survey. —On Wednesday a survey was held on the v-argo saved from the wreck of the brigantine Active. The surveyors in their report recommended that the portion • the cargo which had sustained sen damage sho ild be sold as noon as possible by public i.urtion for the benefit of all concerned, and further, that tin? balance of the cargo being in good condition, should be forwarded to its original destination.
