On Wednesday morning tho schooner Fnkofo entered harbour from Savaii with a full cargo of copra- I j H.I.G.M.N. Nautiluß, which has been expected for some time, at length put in an appearance on Thursday morning. Captain Chuden, whom wo have to thank for late files, reports that he left Auckland on the 21st May, having on board tho body of tho late Eriacb David Uga, son of King Goorjre of Tonga, arriving at Tongatabu on (ho 31st.' Lay at the anchorage at Nukulofa for soveral days and thon proceeded to Ouia, in the Habaai Group, the burial place of the Kings of Tonga. Bomainod ia the Habaai Group for' several days, then proceedod 'to Vavau, which was readied on the 20th iust. Tho following day, the 21st, left for Apia, arriving as above. Tho schooner Edith took her departure from our harbour rfor Auckland, via the Friondlios, on Saturday last. Tbo Louisianna, in, continuance of her cruise, took her departure from this port for Vavau on Saturday last. On Sunday last the schoouor TJ polu left -this harbour for Toiigatabu. The La Rochollo is now nearly a full ship, and will probably sail next week. Sho procoeds direct to Europe. Tho steamer Sudsoe is now ovordue and her arrival is anxiously looked for. No fears are yet entertained as to her safety, but as sho will bring the latest European and Colonial, nows her appearance ia harbour is impatiently awaited. .The schooner Caledonia which was advertisod in the Auckland papers of May to soil to Tonga and Samoa, has, we learn, returned to Auckland from the former Group, having cleared out her cargo there. No vessel was on tbo berth for this port when tho Nautilus left Auckland. The City of Now York, with tho London mails of tho 22nd of April, left San Francisco for Auckland on tho 10th instant, being two days late. There must again have been a delay between Liverpool and Now York, which prevented the City of New York sailing on tho previous Saturday. The Zoal&ndia. with the April colonial mails, arrived in San Francisco on ths 18th iaat.. two day 9 in advance of contract time. —N. Z. Herald. 22nd Mav.
The officers of H.I.G.M.S. Nautilus will be entertained by a ball at tho Lorno-stroet Hall by their countrymen resident in this city, to-night. Tho ship will get ready for sea to-morrow, and will sail on Thursday morning (wind and weather permitting). Her destination will bo Tonjra, thence to Samoa. Sho will relievo H.T.G.M.S Hyona ,at tho latter port, that vessel coming on to Auckland. Captain Chuden, commanding the Nautilus, is senior officer of tho German squadron in the South Pacific. Ho and his otficors are much pleased at ' o courteous treatment they have received iiuring their brief visit to Auckland. Regular periodical visits of German warships may horeafter bo expected. A mail for Tonga, to bo conveyed thither by tho Nautilus, will close at 8 o'clock oil Thursday morning. —N. Z. Herald, 18th Mav.
