. ' ' , "ii i I n > ii { Bbeatoto out o? Pbisos.—UaU, a Sanioan who broke out of gaol torn* tiu« since, was arrested on Saturday last, and tried on Thursday, before the three Consul*. Thei prisoner -Was sentenced to six week's imprisonment, four weeks being part of the original sentence, and two for breaking out of gaol. Regulation.—The Neutral Territory Government have issued, during the past week, the following regulation concerning assaulting public officers of the Neutral Territory:—•*■ Anyone assaulting or in anywise molesting any person in the service of, or connected with, the Neutral Territory Government, shall be punished by fine in a sum not exceeding two hundred dollars, or by imprisonment with hard labour for a period not exceeding six months, or by fine and imprisonment not exceeding the before-mentioned penalties. ; . The Neutral Terbitobt.—As we intimated in our last issue the old Government party, whom the Neutral Territory Government so graciously granted a fortnight to remove a fort which might easily have been done in twenty-four hours, have not. stopped at the few depredations which they had committed up to last Friday. Day after day we learn of fresh plundering*, foreigners' plantations plundered of bannanas, taro, and oocoanuts, and their pigs, poultry, and cattle killed and carried off by these recipients of a mistaken leniency. Have this party attempted to remove one stonu from the fort, whioh they received a fortnight to remove ? We will venture to say no; but on the other hand have done no more than might have been expected from a people who know not the meaning of the word honour or gratitude. In addition to the breaob.es of the neutral territory agreement, we learn that there are fully one hundred armed men of the old party patrolling half way between the said fort and Apia. Has anything been done to prevent any further thieving by theso eucroachers by the Neutral Territory Government ? and if not, why not ? "V? e feel very strongly upon this matter, but we will curb our feelings till we see the resulUof the fortnight's grace.
