THE EMPEROR OF GERMANY'S GOLDEN WEDDING.
Berlin, .lune 11.- The city was in holiday attire yesterday in honor of the. Emperor's golden wedding, which will be osorved to-day. Special sentry boxes flank the doors of the Embassies. Palaces and hotels tell of the arrival of the distinguished guests and the honors accorded thoin, while uniforms of foreign colors mingle with the dark Prussian blue. Orderlies dash to and fro., while curious crowds delight to watch tlio unusual stream of brilliant equipages on the Linden. Tho populace, laid regular siege to the Kmpemr's palace, and whoever entered or ('merged was received with a volley of liurruhs. The chief building! have been draped with grcon-
ings, ami MOW [tfirticular streets flutter wiili streamers and flag-*. lllumioaUuri .lrvi.x-s have been affixed here and theru ready to burst out this evening Into flaming monograms of eagles, portraits and oilier compliments to the Imperial pair. All day yesterday the .street-, were blue with the modest cornflower the favorite plant of the Emperor. At every corner portraits and biographies of the Monarch and his consort were tat sale, and the .street bards of Berlin put forth all their powers to tempt ptMen-by. Lureled b«tt of the Emperor and Empress are in every house ; their portraita hang in every window; their names are mentioned with honor by every tongue, and the only regret heard is that fuller scope has not been given for the display of popular loyalty ; but affection can ill be taught restraint, lit all pnrts of the Empire addresses aiv voted by Provincial Assemblies, municipalities and universities, and the day is taking the character of a universal festival. Newspapers of every shade unite in expressing undivided love and allegiance to the revered Monarch. Berlin, even yesterday, was rapidly tilling with all kinds of visitors. Among the distinguished arrivals up to yesterday morning wero the Rojal Family of .Saxony, Grand Dukes Alexis and Michael of Russia the Ducal Families of Baden, Mecklenburg-Schwerin and Mecklen-burg-Strelitz, Prince Frederick of thu Netherlands, the Prince aud Princess of Hohenzollern and the Duke Edinburgh. Though very well generally tho Emperor William has not yet entirely recovered from his recent accident, which, though slight injured one of his knees. He will neither walk nor stand during the procession. The banks of the Rhine and tho adjacent hills were lighted by bonfires last night. On the left bank, from Bingenbruck to Rolamlzek, and on the right bank, from Eilville to tho Seven Hills, fires were lighted at !) o'clock and kept burning about one hour along the whole distance of sixty miles. The unprecedented grandeur of this demonstration attracted u large number of strangers to the Rhine valley.
Berlin Juno 11 —Noon—The whole city is gayly decorated, and tho streets are crowded, especially within the pr_ciucts of tho place. A concert in which 2000 male voices participated, took phuc this morning in the Doenhof l'latz. Students are now forming in line to welcome the Imperial carriages conveying their Majesties to tho Castle chapel. _ I'ne Emperor and bmpress were enthusiastically cheered by ilenso crowds as they passed at the head of the magnificent procession of the princes from tin palace to the castle chapel, where a salute of 101 guns was tired at tho louclusion of the ceremonies at tho chapel. Oil their return to the palace the iiiuperor appeared three times on the balcony, in response to the continuous cheeriug of tho crowd. The city is splendidly illuminated to-night, even in the remotest quarterD.
London, Juno 11. —The Emperor William has given 80,000 marks to the poor of Berlin. A special correspondent reports that tho Emperor yesterday appeared to wake with pain and showed weakness in all his movements. —S.F. Chronicle.
