Who knows uot J. E. V. Alvord ? He is by all his friends adored; The Kava Club is his delight, He takes the chair, as is his right. On Tuesday morning rings his bell, A hint that be has goods to sell, A nondescript collection ; yes, Yet worth attention none tho less. An auctioneer's sharp " going, gouo " Secuis easy work to lookers on ; Let them but mount the rostrum high, " We were mista'en " they soon will cry. A clear loud voice, a pleasant smile, A lively wit which does not rile, These gifts of l>ody, heart and mind, In J. E. Alvord are combined !
