The plenipotentiaries of Loth parties met on we 22nd of January of this year, at the Imperial German Consulate ; after communicating their power to each other, which wore found to h u W good and due fain, the '>.'"-'.-man plenipotentiaries presented t.' tii-? Samoan plenipotentiaries a •J.alt oi a treaty in the Samoau language, whi ih then was deliberated upon by them. As ae deliberations did not ooae to a clcse on this day, the German and Sa-
moau plenipotentiaries met again on the ..ixi day, the 23rd January, to continue tne same; a treaty of friendship was wen agreed upon, and it was decided to have the same made out in two copies each in the German and Saraoan languages. On the 24th January the plenipotentiaries of the said two Governments met again in the Imperial German Consulate, when the treaty was signed und sealed by chem, in two copies each in the German and Samoan languages, as proof of their approval of the said treaty. One copy was then rendered to the German plenipotentiaries and the other to the Samoan plenipotentiaries The Samoan plenipotentiaries promised to submit the treaty which had been considered at onco to the Samoan Govornvernment nr ratification.
