Brisbane, November .MO.—Hibernian arrived last night from Port Moresbi, bringing 20 passengers. The men reported fhev penetrated into the interior about 1000 miles N.W., round Owen Stunley Range. They found nothing payable. Intended to round the N.E. coast, but could not get overland by coast. They reached the head of the Cloldie, but found nothing. Could not try any other, as the full season was too late, ami it was raining heavily nearly everyday. Rivers all Hooded, and are marked higher than ever before. Tim pioneers lost a lot of horses drowned ; the men had continually to risk their lives. Ten men have been left at Port .Moresby, having entered into an ngreemiiil with Mr. Goldio, who takes them round in his schooner to explore the N.E. coast. Goldio finds everything; the men to do bird-shooting for him, and all prospects for themselves, Goldie believes gold lies N.K. t'ooktown, December 0. —The missionary steamer Kllangowan, with Rev. Mr. Chalmers, reached South tape, New Guinea, in safety. Mr. Chalmers writes to say that things are progressing favourably with the mission, and that the natives continue to be very friendly, lie. had recently explored some large tracts of territory, ascending some hundreds of feet up the Cloudy Mountains, where some most interesting native tribes are living, and who received him with every signs of welcome. He also explored the Lome Ranges and Grengay Bay Lagoon, which is ft much larger reach of water thftii whs expected. The natives aro very industrious, and in the mountain districts have large cultivation plantations, terraced so jus to prevent the soil being carried away through the rush of the mountain waters. —T:-ie prospector do not, as vet, report any discovery of payable gold.
