She left Sydney on the 17th of 1 ist month, from which port she brought some five passengers, and a quantity of general merchandise ; and from the Tonga Group she brought a quantity of cotton. Some little excitement was created on the beach about five o’clock on Sunday afternoon last, when Messrs. GodetiroUs new steamer Sudseo appeared iu sight from behind Mnlinuu Point. She is a smart little B‘oomer of some eighty-eight tons register, built of half-inch iron plates, and carries compound engines of thirty-five horsc-pmvcr. She made the from Sydney to Fiji in eleven days, and from Ijomaloma to port in four days. We boliovo the Sudseo is intended to be used principally as a dispatch boat for the ahovenicntioued firm. Our old friend Captain Schmidt, of the schooner Upolu is in charge.
