TO THE EDITOR OF THE SAMOA TIMES.

Sir,—l do not know whether you wish to continue the reporting of the conduct of those drunken natives on Sunday. If you allow me to report the following, 1 will. At a quarter to 5 "'clock on Sunday, the lath, being in charge of a house in Matufcle, and seeing three drunken natives coming along f closed the dour, leaving one window open. One tried to get. in at. the window which I stopped ; another threw half a dollar on the window sill tor a buttle of gin, and I refused, lie then pushed the door, which, being slightly bolted, he forced ope,,. They walked in, and the one who poked his bead in at the window, said to me'• (I d you, who are you," lifting bis right band in a threatening manner, dust then the proprietor came up and drove them out. 1 cannot ascertain their names, but as they are customers for bread. &c, I

content myself with reporting to you. Your- truly. A. 0. Stead. • [We are sorry that our correspondent should have been in charge of the house referred to, and thereby laid himself open to insult, for where natives are in the habit, of obtaining their supplies of gin, there they must be expected when they -want more. We have not the slightest sympathy for the proprietor referred to. for lie is one of the most notorious of the avaricious grog-sellers in supplying natives. If the natives, while in a state of intoxication, would confine their riotous conduct to t.ho houses where they get their liquor, we would not say a wc.rd.—Ed. S. T.'l
