ENGLAND'S HONOURED JEWS.
In connection with tho marriage of Miss Hannah do Rothschild to the Earl of Rosuberry, and her consequent elevation to the rank of a peeress of Great Britain, it may be interesting to give a lißt of Jews now living, who, though not members of the nobility, wear British titles of honour. These are : Sir Nathaniel Mayer de Rothschild, Bart., M.P., son of tho late Baron Lionel de Rothschild. Sir MoseH Monteiior, Bart., the wellknown philanthropist, now in his ninetyfifth vear.
Sir Francis 11. Goldsmid, Bart., M.P., son of the late Sir Isaac Gold4mid,a prominent member of the bar. His nephew and heir presumptive, Julian Goldsmid, represented Honiton and Rochester in Parliament for soveral years. Sir David Lionel Salomons, Baronet, son of the late Philip Salomons, and nephew of the late Sir David Salomons, Baronet, at one timo Lord Mayor of London, from whom he inherited his title.
Sir Bonjamin Samuel Phillips, Knight, a prominont and wealthy merchant, and formerly Lord Mayor of London. Sir Albert David Saseon, Knight, son of tho late David Sasson, of Bombay, a member of tho Legislative Council of Bombay. Sir Jules Vogel, K.C.M.G., formerly Colonial Treasurer of New Zealand, afterwards Premier of the Government of that colony, and now Agent-General of the colony. Sir George Jessel, formerly SolicitorGeneral, now Master of tho Rolls mid Member of tho Privy (,'ouneil, who was shot at the other day by a madman. Sir Barrow Herbert Ellis, formerly member of tho Executive and Legislative 1 'oiuicil of Bombay, anil member of the i '"umiW »hi> Qovwikw Otntnd of Tndla.
Am.ng the English Jews holdiug tonijgn titles are the Baron >le Worms, a ec>ii-iri ~•' the Rothschilds; the Baron de Stern, Baron Albert Grant, ami the Countess d'Avigdor, sister of Sir Francis Goldsmid. The English Jews who are now and have been memhera of Parliament, are Sir Lithaniel de Rothschild, Sir Francis Goldsmid, Julian Goldsmid, Saul Isaac, and Sergeant Simon, I Arthur Cohen, Q.C., who represented the British Government at the Geneva Convention, is the eldest nephew of Sir Moses Montetiore, and heir presumptive of the estates. Sir Frederick Goldsmid, C.B, K.C.5.1., Major-General in the British army, and formerly Director-General of Indo-European telegraphs, is a son of the late Lionel Goldsmid, and a cousin of Sir Francis Goldsmid. Ho married out of the Jewish faith a daughter of General George Mackenzie Stewart, and, though never converted, has ceased to be a member of the Synagogue.—N. Y. World.
