A YOUNG GIRL'S TERRIBLE REVENGE.
Miss Caroline White, a young lady of seventeen, has created wi sensation by shooting Win. M. Holland, a married man, having a wife and eovou children. On Monday last, shortly before dinner, Miss White called at the housoof Thomas' Yocum, in English Rjwr township. I Mr. Yocutn being unwell, was not long
»t the table, and loft. Just as Holland was about finishing dinner Miss White walked out to the table nnd presented a paper, telling him to B ign it, which he refused to do, aud, stepped outdoors, Miss White following him. In a momont tho first shot was heard, and Mr. Yocum who wax first at the scone, tells us that Holland was running, passed around an
evergreen, and n short distance therefrom fell perfectly lifeless. Miss White followed him up with a revolver, and when Holland fell placed the muzzle close to his head aud continued firing. Yocum and another man, whose name we huve forgotten, attempted to get hold <rt her but she cpiiokly levelled the pistol at Yooum's assistant, telling liini to gtjmd aside or she would shoot him. This hj,. diil quickly, and tho weapon was in ;i second lowered Uy Miss White and tire.l at the postrate and lifoluM body of'

If all Wert tii4H, one failed to take effect. (liu) shut grazed the face, doing no dalilage. <>tte entered the temple, one over the right eye, milking its way into the brain, and another to the left of the vcitelir.e, ranging upward to the centre of the heart, and between the fourth ami filth true ribs, lodging beneath the skin. It was thought that the ball passing through the heart was the first one fired, and that the other shots taking effect were rired after he had fallen lifeless. The cauße of the act is said to bo that Holland had repeatedly stated that Caroline was unchaste, and that he had had intercourse with her, which reports coining to her family, Holland was interviewed and promised to sign a statement that he had lied. For Home time ho has evaded his promise, until the girl became exasperated. She is roported to be of good character, modest and unassuming ; not a whisper was ever heard against her name, except from Holland, who went to young men and told his tales. —■ '• Sigourney (Iowa) News."
