Regatta and Sports.—By reference to our advertising columns it will be seen that we are to have two days sports next week, in the shape of a Eegatta on Tuesday, and Land Sports on Wednesday. We should like to see them a success, for tho honor of our visitors on board the Snpphire, for it is mainly through them that the matter of sports has been again announced. High Comsiissioner's Court.—The first sitting of the High Commissioner's Court will bo held in. the building formerly known as the York Hotel, and whioh has been rented from Mr. D. S. Parker for that purpose. The civil sittings commence on Tuesday, and the criminal sittings on Thursday next. If all the cases are brought forward that we hear spoken of, the Judicial Commissioner will have plenty to do next week. Pacific Mail Service.—By the following telegram from Washington, dated ISovember 23, it will bo noticed that some parties are endeavouring to get the Pacific Mail steamers to call at the Samoan Islands on their way to and from San Franoisco. We hope they may succeed, for then we will have something like regular communication with the world :—" Captain Waddcll, of the Pacific Mail Steamship Company, has in company with Mr. Luttrell called upon the Postmaster-General regarding moil service with the Islands, and Mr. Keys is reported at favoring the idea. The company say th&y will carry the mail at one-naif the amount allowed by any other Government, and olaim that touching at tho Islands will only take eff twonty-four hours of tho Australian trip. To-morrow Bishop BUory, tho the Chief, and Mr. Luttrell will call upon Secretary Evarts regarding the proposed treaty."

1 The Weather.—Upon Thursday and yesterday we were favoured wlth a few j refreshing showers, which vac much I needed. Vegetation begins to show the j good effects already.
