Thk Seign'ELAY.—The French Admiral stationed at Tahiti does not seem to have looked very favorably upon the actions of < 'aptaiii Aube, of the French war steamer Scignelay, in landing his men at night and forcibly entering the premises of the late firm of G. J. Smith, and Co.. at Matautu. The following few lines we clip from the " San Francisco Chronicle," of ihe lilth November, which appear under the heading of " Tahiti News " :
"The Commander of the war vessel Scignelay has been removed by the Admiral, and ordered to France, for his conduct in tie l Sanioan affair."
Robbery.—The pilferer is again on the track. Having heard very little of robberies of late, we were beginning to think that perhaps the light-fingered

Christmas.—Christmas is past, am! we must say that it passed oil" very quietly indeed, and had there been 'a poll 'o court, here we do not believe there wot. Id have been a single case of " drunk and disorderly " upon the list. About the only thing that we noticed to put us at all in mind that it was Christmas time was the illumination of the premises of Yessrs. Godeffroy, and Slum, and a real Christmas tree very nicely decorate. I and thickly set with prizes, the drawing for -which created some considerable amusement amongst those who weir present.; also an illumination at Mr. John Anil's house on Boxing night. A few of the houses in the town were decorated with-green bushes, but in a place like this where everything is given it is not appreciated in the same manner as it is at Home, where it is a difficult matter to find a green bush at this time of the year,
