should take the initiatory movement ourselves, and at least show to the world that we are alive to our necessities, and are willing aud capable of relieving ourselves. Our business people here can well afford to subscribe the funds necessary to provide for the proper transmission of their mails; and as this is simply a local matter, we should not wait like children to have it done for us, more especially as we are the sole sufferers ourselves. The system adopted- here of having two poet offices—one German and an- : other English and American —b ; also a great -nuisance. ■We shall refer to this matter some other time.
