DEATH AT MATIERE.
MEDICAL MAN'S END. Word was received on Monday (18th inst.) reports the Oh urn Advocate of the death of Dr. Morris., the M«2ic»< Association's officer at Maciere. lie was stated to be. missing, and some neighbours, upon making a search, found the unfortunate man in the stable with his throat cut. Deceased was a naturalised German of many years standing, and it is believed that the unfortunate war was indirectly responsble for his death. An inquest was held on Monday, and the deceased was buried the same afternoon in tliu Matiere cemetery. We (Advocate) have it on good authority' that there is nothing in the ugly rumour respecting the treatment of the body at Matiere. The facts are that a coffin was made and the body placed therein, but on account ot the advanced stage of decompaction immediate burial was ordered, so that there was no time to procure the services of a clergyman, ft is understood that the late doctor was related to people of position in the bouth Island.
