COLLISION IN BROADWAY.

SUNDAY EVENING INCIDENT. About 5.30 last evening a motor car (“Ford”) owned by Mr F. Lehrke, of Eltham,, and a motor bicycle ridden by Mr A. Cameron, happened to impinge at the intersection of Broadway ana the Opunake Road, the result being that the car was overturned and the occupants thrown out, and all more or less injured or bruised. The driver was Mr Joe Lehrke, bis father sitting alongside him, and his mother and two young brothers being da the back seat. One boy bled rather profusely Hrom cuts on his eyebrows and face owing to the flying glass from the wind shield,, and had to be taken to the hospital for treatment. Mr J. Martin rendered first aid, and kindly attended to Mrs Lehrke and the others until the hoy was taken to hospital by Mr B. Darkness, and Mrs Lehrke was conveyed by Mrs Burkett to the latter’s home, where medical attendance was secured owing to injuries to the victim’s side. From the particulars gathered, it appears that Mr Lehike noticed, the cyclist coming down the Opunake Road, and instructed his son to slacken the pace, and keep well on his.own side of the road, so as to allow the cyclist to pass; then as the car came nearly to a stop, the motor bicycle hit the car on the radiator and turned it over. The usual question of the drivers being oy their right side of the road cropped up, and probably is yet undecided, xhe consequences might have been a great deal more serious. The damage done to the uu.'Tor car and motor bicycle was not loueli. i lie latter probably coming off tlio worst with bent front wheel and forks.
