MEN REFUSE TO START. Per Press Association. Dunedin, December 1(5. Shearing on the big runs in the Cromwell district commenced this week. Mount Pisa had everything in readiness for a start yesterday, but there was trouble in regard to the rates, and as the outcome, all the shearers departed without starting. It is stated that the first request was for a substantial increase for shed hands and pressers. which was conceded. A further request was then made for 27s 6d per 100 for shearing, but the management declined and the shearers departed.
