Prices were as follows; -Cows and calves £9 11s to £9 15s, store cows, light. £7 7s 6d to £8 Is, 2-year old steers £7 10s to £lO 15s, yearling steers £7 6s, £7 15s to £8 Is for good, yearling heifers £5 17s 6d to £6 16s 6d. ewes and

lambs Ms 6d to 50s 7d, 4-th, Gfch and f.m. wethers 40s Id, empty ewes 41s to 425. being a record price for district. Rams 11 to 3gns. On Friday, Btii December, we bold our usual monthly sale at Te Wera, when we had a moderate yarding of cattle, all of which sold at good prices. Store cows, light £8 6s to £lO Bs, £ll 18s for good, 3-year old heifers £8 14s to £9 13s, 15-months steers £7 Is, 15-months heifers £5 17s, springing cows up to £ls.

On Tuesday. 12th December, we held our usual fortnightly sale at the Stratford yards, when we had a large l yarding of cattle and fair yarding of sheep. Prices were as follows; Store cows, small £8 12s to £lO, medium £lO 5s to £ll 16s for good, fats £l2 5s to £l3 12s, 3-year old heifers £8 9s, £8 15s to £9 6s, cows and calves £9 Bs' to £lO 6s, yearling heifers, small £4 12s 6d to £4 17s 6d, 15-month heifers £5 16s to £6 ss, 18-month to 2-year heifers £7 12s Gd to £7 14s, £8 10s for good, bulls £5 5s to £7 15s, hoggetts 335. Our next sale at this centre will be held on 22nd December, 1916.

On Monday, 11th December, we held a clearing sale on account of Mr A. A. Piper, Toko. We have to report a splendid sale, both stock and sundries meeting with keen competition. The following are some of the prices realised:—Horses and cattle.Bay mare “Dolly” £22 10s, brown gelding “Punch” £25 10s, bay mare “Jess” £3O, bay mare A*Rose” £35, draught colt £7 ss, cob £5, cows and calv£k £ll 3s, weaner steers £2 19 a,! 2-year heifers £7 Into £9 10s, 15-month heifers £5 4s 6d, milch cows £9 10s to £l3 2s 6d. Since we last reported we have handled a large quantity of stock privately at the following price . Store cows £8 17s 6d, 2-year heifers £6, 2-year heifers £7 15s to £8 6s, 3 to 4-year old bullocks £ls, 15rnonth steers £6 13s, £7 2s f <l, v ethers 4-th, 6-th and f.m. £2, £2 Is, mixed hoggetts 30s, 2-th ewes shorn 32s 9d, 4-th and 6-th ewes and lambs IBs, dry ewes 365. fat wethers 35s to 36s 3d.
