Toko School), 5s lsd per Mr Bicheno (teacher, Cardiff School). The appeal is practically closed but other amounts already promised are coming in and will slightly increase the present figures. Adjutant Cook is unstinting in his praise of the splendid response from Stratford and the country districts to the appeal. Fixing a target of £IOO. he feels much pleasure that the target reached had been past. To those who have not given ancT desire to do so, the Adjutant says: “Time is passing, what thou doest, do quickly.” The instructions from headquarters are to supply the information as to the result of the appeal not later than Wednesday, so that there may be no delay in cabling the money to London.

Special mention should be made of the splendid effort of Miss Merle Skoglund, who collected, the grand total of £l3 17s 6d on Saturday afternoon and evening. In thanking this young lady and her parents, the Adjutant desires to also express his sincere thanks to all who contributed to so splendid a result, and to assure everyone that the Salvation Army will see that those people deserving help most will get the fullest benefit therefrom.
