ORDINARY MEETING.
j The ordinary meeting of the Execn--1 tive Committee, held at the Association’s office, Municipal Buildings, this morning, was attended by the following delegates: —Messrs .7. E. Wilson (New Plymouth,, chairman), E. Beck- , bessinger (Waitara), W. P. Kirkwood (Stratford), T. B. Crump ( Fit ham), Rev. R. B. Tinsley (Opnnabe), H. Dunn (Auroa and Manaia), C. S. Fleming (Patea), E. Mills (Ha-wenD, and W. E. Percivul (Inglewood). I LOANS TO HARBOUR BOARDS. j. Correspondence was received from j the Hon. Solicitor to the Association who advised that investments in Har hour Board securities were not authorised under the provisions of the | Trustees Act, 1908, and it was resolved, that a letter bo sent to the j Waitara Harbour Board stating that | that the proposed loan could not ( therefore be granted. ■ INVESTMENT OF FUNDS, j Correspondence was read from various local bodies seeking information >as to the funds at the Association's
j disposal. 1 A loan of £3OOO was granted to the New Plymouth Borough Council for six years at 5\ per cent.

McPhillips, and the mover, should formulate a scheme for settling returned soldiers on the land, ! and report to next meeting of Kxocutive. j FINANCE. I Rank balances were reported at at 1 30-11-191 G, as follows Post Office Savings Rank, Cr. £8000; Rank ol N.Z., Cr £391 13s sd. The report on accounts and general position of fund showed that the total ; of the funds at 30-11-10, was £31,375 1 Is JOd, of which amount £lB,/69 0s 5d lias been remitted to the Association from the various receiving eom-
j mrctoes. j The disbursements by local cominiti tees by way af relief, amounted to £270 0s 3d, representing relief grant--1 ed in 33 separate oases and promisc-
uous grants on imprest acc., etc,, of £57 12s 3d. The Association has made grants
on relief account amounting to £BS 5s 3d, temporary relief or assistance by way of relief and assistance to and contributions to New Zealand soldiers ’ abroad for extra comforts, which bring up the total expenditure by way of relii and assistance to £2400 9s Od so far. Local brandies report credit balances at their hankers totalling £1316 18s lid. Investments by local branches to 30-11-1916, amount to £14,030 11s <d. Various delegates reported on matters appertaining to the local 'districts. and temporary relief was granted in necessitious eases. Reports were considered Irom ’branch committees dealing generally with the granting of rebel, and forwarding particulars of too various eases dealt with. Accounts wore parsed for payment. CM A HIM A VS RETIREMENT. The Chairman explained that Jos private bu.-iness arrangements would necessitate his retirement Irom membership of the Lxeeulivo and New Plymouth committees. He would therefore not be with them after the present meeting. Ho much regretted having to take the step, as lie took a great interest in the soldiers movement.
Members voiced their appreciation of .Mr .Wilson’s services very heatlih, and tile question of electing a chairman was left over in the meantime. It was decided that next meeting ho held on the loth January, HH7. The meeting then went into committee.
