The Foreign Office states that tbe Press messages from Greece are misleading, inasmuch as the Royalists have regained control of the cable and Press censorships, and Allied Press correspondents in Athens are threatened with personal violence, as are all other suspected of \ enizelist leanings. There is reason to believe the Royalist forces and the mob are guilty of very grave acts of violence. A wireless message from Rome states that advices from Athens intimate that Dusmanis, Matallas, and other Glermanopliiles have not been recalled, and that King Constantine has ordered the disarmament <’l civilians. Greek navigation has been stopped completely, and communications with the islands is interrupted. Arrests of Yenizelists and domiciliary searches continue. The Liberal newspapers have ceased to he published. The Royalists have erected barricades in the streets.

AGED MAYOR ILL-TREATED.

In formation is to hand of a dastardly attack on the Mayor of Athens, who is over 70 years of age. His house was fired on from the residence ol prince Ypsilanti, Master of the King s Horse. The Princess, who is a (Hungarian, was seen encouraging the soldiers. The house was broken into, and the mayor spat upon, wounded with a bayonet and beaten with rifle butts, his heard was partly torn off, and lie was dragged into the street. Hie Princess stood at the window clapping her hands as the mayor was taken off for examination. There are shocking accounts of his condition, as tho result ,of the treatment, and which General Corakas described as “resembling a corpse.”
