Mr W. J. Reeve/Clerk of the Court, returned to Stratford by this morning’s mail train.

Wilson’s con.--ion. was worse, Mr H. Wilson left for Wellington by this morning’s mail train to see his son. The health of Mr H. Hassall, or Miranda Street is at present rather i serious, owing to a severe stroke yesItorday. -Mr Hassall imd been unwed ■for the past fortnight, but attended the funeral of his old Iriend, the late Mr Peter Hancock, on -Monday. | The Minister of Defence (the Hon. !J. Allen) has advised Mr \V. M. ■Doughty this Ids son Lieutenant Doughty, serving with the Australian Forces, has been wounded. Lout. Doughty was, prior to enlisting, lor some time with the H.li. Clothing Factory, Broadway.

Flight Sub-Lieutenant Fhot King, the youngest sou of -Mr Newton King, New Plymouth, is at present attached to the 11. N. Seaplane Depot, Port Said, Egypt. In a letter to a local friend, he states that whilst swimming one day early in October he came across Capt. Rex Brewster, N.Z.M.C. who was stationed half-way down cht> Canal, at Ismalia, but was expecting to bo shifted any time into the desert.
