Many Stratford friends of Captain IV. V". Wilson,, will ho sorry to learn that he is lying seriously ill with’ pneumonia at Wellington. A London cable reports the deatli of the Grand Duchess of Mecklen-burg-Strelitz, grand-daughter of George 111. ’ Masters Tristram and McGuinness, of tlie Stratford High School, left by this morning’s train for New Plymouth to take part in the Bayly Memorial Athletic Competition today. Word has been received that Dr. Geo. Home, of New Plymouth, who left as a surgeon-captain early in the war, and served several months at Gallipoli, and is now at Brockenhurst, England, has been promoted from the rank'd' major to that of lieutenant-colonel.
