During the debate on the German Mass Levy Bill in the Reichstag, Herr Helferrich (Socialist) stated that Germany’s coal production had sunk one-half at the beginning of the war, but to-day had risen ninety per cent. TJie peace productions of steel had been reduced at first to one third, but bad now been raised to eightyfive per cent. The English coal industry. which was always greater than Germany’s, excelled the 191 G peace time figures, but her steel production decreased considerably.
