TARANAKI WOOL, SKIN, HIDE j AND TALLOW SALES. I MR. NEWTON KINC'S REPORT. I ' I submitted on Tuesday, November 28th, a catalogue of 2250 sheepskins, 10 casks and 61 tins of tallow, 618 hides and 4044 calfskins. .All wool was held over pending the decision of the Government in commandeering the whole of New Zealand's clip. There was an average attendance of buyers and 1 experienced keen coinpetition throughout the sale. Sheepskins again advanced Jd per lb, selling as high as 25s lid each, and 780 dry skins were sold at 13£d per lb. Tallow was easier than late rates. Hides again advanced Id per lb. with an unsatisfied demand. Calfskins declined Jd to -} t d per lb. The prices realised at this sale should be extremely satisfactory to clients. The Arawa's New Zealand cargo is discharging, and is quoted at 210 s to 212 s for salted, and 21 Is in 21us for unsalted. Argentine 202 s to 208 s. | ■ The cheese market is strong and unsettled owing to the uncertainty ot 1 what the Government is doing. Canadian, 126 sto 128 s. It is reported the Government is buying New Zealand at £lO per cwt., 1'.0.b., and is offering the same for New South Wales. It is understood the Government has raised the price for Queensland contracts. Wool—Bradford market is in a state of suspense, business being at a standstill, all quotations having been withdrawn. The presidents of the colonial wool importers, the London buyers, and the selling brokers' associations are making strong representations to the War Office and asking that there should he no undue disturbance of the existing agencies and methods of handling and distribution here. ,
