General Murray’s despatch adds: Patrolling duties along the western edge oh the Canal zone were entrusted to two Australian squadrons. The whole displayed the greatest zeal, tact, and resource, with the result that the western Canal zone can ho said to be tree of all unauthorised persons.
The attention and devotion of the Australian and New Zealand nursing services were eulogised. A subsequent despatch mentions Colonels Chauvel, Chaytor, Royston, Autill, Meredith, Walshc, Downes, Wilson, Fuller, Onslow, .May gar, Grant, Dixon,' and Croll i Australia; Colonels Mackesy, Findlay, and :Melrum (New Zealanders). Also, ninetylive Australian offijeers ami men, ami eight nurses, and 21 New Zealand officers and four nurses.
