PERSONAL.
Maxtor Davies (aged 8), son of Mr A. Davies, of the Public Works Department, whilst playing with his brother last evening, broke his leg, and was conveyed to the Stratford hospital for treatment. Many readers will be glad to learn that Cecil Burgess who was taken to the Stratford hospital on Wednesday suffering severely from the effects of being run over by a motor ear is progressing favourably.
Mr D ,H. Chamberlain, of the Post ami Telegraph Office,. Wanganui, is spending a short holiday in Stratford before leaving for camp. Among recent casualty lists appeared the name of Private Staveley, who has been twice wounded. This soldier is a son of Mrs A. F„ Wilson, of Celia Street, Stratford, who has just recc'ved particulars of his locality. Midhirst and Stratford friends will ho glad to learn news of the two sous of Mr and Mrs J. M. Shotter, wlio are at the tiring line in Franco. Both Privates Ronald and Verhon have hemi wounded as the result of doing their duty to New Zealand and the Empire, and news has reached the mother that her sons are “together again, both well.” Mr E. Marfell (Toko) received the sad news by cablegram that his third son. Corporal Frank Marfell, was killed in action. Mr Marfell has now lost two sons while serving their country, and another son was accidentally killed early in Hi? year. Much sympathy is expressed for Mr Marfell and family in their latest bereavement.
