11l the House of Representatives, Mr Hughes emphasised the fact that the war overshadowed all other matters and the energies of the Government were directed on lines calculated to enable us to do our utmost, both as regards men and products. He reviewed the war and said it was dangerous for us to accept an indecisive peace which must follow if the Germans were not driven out of Allied countries.
